With wonderful views over Oxford's dreaming spires, Oxford Garden Centre began life as a tiny piggery and nursery that evolved into Johnsons Garden Centre, a family business famed for allowing customers to choose plants growing in situ and then digging them up! It was later taken over by Kennedys, who installed a pretty bridge over the stream at the store entrance where even now customers are welcome to admire and feed the resident carp.
Located just off the A34 at South Hinksey, the centre is run by a team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble and who take great pleasure in dispensing good practical advice on gardening matters. Growing stock is top quality and in combination with the friendly atmosphere and helpful service remains a real attraction for experienced and amateur gardeners alike.
Although plants and gardening products lie at the heart of the business, the centre also includes a pet shop, garden furniture, wild bird care products, giftware and cards.
