Amelanchier canadensis (Juneberry, snowy mespilus) is a beautiful species bearing a profusion of dainty star-shaped white flowers in spring amidst unfurling coppery leaves. Foliage matures to deep green before turning orange and red in autumn. Sweet juicy edible berries are borne in June, hence the common name.
Small hardy deciduous tree. 3-4m after 10 years. Plant in moist but well-drained humus-rich, lime-free soil in full sun or partial shade.
