Ceanothus thyrsiflorus var. repens (Californian lilac) is a delightful low mound-forming variety smothered in wonderfully blue flowers in May and June. Ideal for low walls and under bay windows. One of the hardiest of the ceanothus.
Small frost hardy evergreen shrub. Plant in any well-drained soil in a sunny position sheltered from cold winds. Best against a warm sunny wall.
