Fatsia japonica (castor oil plant) is a classically good-looking architectural evergreen. It bears large handsome palmately lobed dark green leaves and creamy-white flowers in autumn, followed by small black berries much appreciated by birds as a winter food source. A fine outdoor or cool conservatory specimen.
Medium-sized frost hardy evergreen shrub. Plant in moist but well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shade position sheltered from cold winds. Protect plants in containers over winter. RHS Award of Garden Merit.
