Primula vulgaris is the much loved British native primrose, producing its soft yellow flowers over many weeks from late winter through spring. Height and spread 20cm by 35cm. An essential plant for country and woodland gardens and cottage garden-style plantings. Thrives in moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil, in sun or light shade. Dislikes too much exposure to hot sun. Foliage may be evergreen or semi-evergreen in winter and sometimes dormant in summer.
